AT&T & SBC TECHNOLOGY BUILDING

This addition to an existing AT&T facility was designed to house multiple levels of new switchgear and other mechanical equipment.  Though it currently is constructed to 5 stories high, the structural systems are designed to accommodate future expansion to 18 stories.  A 22 foot deep basement over the entire footprint contains multiple emergency generators.  The design of the new structure was carefully contemplated to work cohesively with the adjacent building.  Building sway and settlement needed to fit within a tolerance that would allow for the exchange of cabling, conduit and personnel between the two structures, both now and after vertical expansion.

The project was awarded the 2002 PCI Design Excellence Award.
