The new Media and Science Center is prominently located on Dundee Avenue in Elgin.  This new facility houses classrooms, a Media Center, a Black Box performance space and ancillary media production spaces.  Given the restraints of the site, a new four-story structure was required to accommodate all of the functional intent of the building.  The Black Box theater was placed in the rear corner of the building where the structure is buried almost a full two-stories below grade.  Steel transfer trusses are utilized to carry the weight of the typical floors above the Black Box theater.

This project was awarded the LEED Gold standard and was featured in Masonry Edge magazine.
